A high-level conference on the launch of a handbook and a practical guide for registration of civil status records was held under the patronage of the Minister of the Interior and the heads of the various ministerial departments on March 24, 2019.

52 registrars received training on the handbook and the practical guide for the management of civil registration and vital statistics from 24 to 26 March 2019.

The aim is to standardize and harmonize civil registration procedures to improve the quality of data because when these statistics are complete and accurate, they can also provide information for planning and monitoring.

In addition that civil registration is an indicator of good governance, the participants highlighted the important role CRVS plays to inform targets and indicators needed for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
