UNFPA, in collaboration with the Research Center of the University of Djibouti and the Institute of Independent Research of the Horn Africa "IRICA", has launched a workshop on gender analysis in scientific research. The event was attended by 25 researchers from the University of Djibouti.
The objective of the workshop was to train the researchers from the University of Djibouti on policy analysis and socioeconomic changes through a gender dimension.
This initiative helped to establish a pool of specialized researchers to study gender issues. Thus, the training helped to identify future avenues for research that will help to analyze issues related to gender inequality in the country. This research focuses on studies of perceptions and social representations in harmful cultural practices, pastoral culture and patriarchy, and public policies of gender mainstreaming in development.
