UNFPA, in partnership with the Ministry of Decentralization, organized the 5th African Civil Registration Day under the theme ‘Harnessing Coordination, National Leadership and Ownership to Strengthen Integrated CRVS Systems: A Vector for Counting Everyone’ on 10 August. The Ministers of Environment and Sustainable Development, Trade and Tourism, Muslim Affairs and Waqfs, and Energy and Natural Resources, key officials, and the Mayor and local elected officials attended the event. The Day was an opportunity to sensitize stakeholders involved in civil registration on the need to coordinate and harmonize their activities in compliance with the national strategies to improve civil registration and vital statistics systems.
