On 1-2 June, UNFPA, the Ministry of Health, and the National Union of Djiboutian Women organized consultation workshops for representatives of civil society and maternal and neonatal health facilities. 160 participants discussed innovative solutions for the bottlenecks in the accessibility and coverage of services within the referral maternities. Among the main bottlenecks are lack of means to do additional examinations (blood test), long queues in front of the consultation rooms, lack of knowledge of the basic social services available in the districts of each municipality, and the lack of awareness of the importance of tests for mother and child during pregnancy.
