UNFPA in collaboration with the Independent Research Institute of the Horn of Africa (IRICA) organized a high-level conference under the chairmanship of the Minister of Women on harmful practices that harm the health of children on 2 February 2019.
The purpose of the conference was to engage parents on harmful practices and risky behaviors that affect the health of the child.
FGM is one of those harmful practices that continue to be rampant in remote areas of Djibouti and is a practice that comes against human rights especially the rights of the child.
Parents have taken the commitment not to subject their daughters to these harmful practices especially FGM.
