UNFPA, in collaboration with a team from the Directorate of Mother and Child Health, has developed an approach that enables pregnant women and newborns to be guided.
The objective of the intervention is to:
• Support the Directorate of Mother and Child Health in the reorganization of the supply of care in the various care establishments to deal with the COVID19 pandemic, particularly in the area of maternal and newborn health. And also ensure continuity of reproductive health care,
• Develop a communication and health education strategy related to the health of the mother and the newborn and COVID19.
This will be done through
• maintaining high-quality perinatal care services, during pregnancy, during childbirth, and in the postpartum period through an adaptation of the organization of the supply of care during this pandemic period,
• reducing the risk of viral contamination for both women users of reproductive health services and health personnel,
This organization, currently in place, will be useful during the pandemic period and also during the post-pandemic period.
This organization will also be applied to all pregnant women and newborns care facilities.
