Closing of the 16 days of activism against Gender-based Violence including FGM

UNFPA in partnership with the UNFD organized the closure of the 16 days of activism activities which were closed by an official High-Level meeting on December 15, 2019, bringing together the key sectors Ministers involved in the implementation of the Essential Services Package “ESP” that are: Health, Justice and the social sector represented by the UNFD and the Ministry of Women.

With political commitment at the highest level marked by the strong involvement of the First Lady, the operationalization of the national response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) including Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) was achieved through a national multisectoral coalition led by the Ministry of Women and the UNFD.

In order to support this national coalition, UNFPA has renewed its commitment to continue providing technical and financial support for the institutionalization of the multisectoral approach to respond to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) through the implementation of the Essential Service Package in response to Gender-Based Violence.
